Overview: LAN1166ED is a 100V high voltage, 4A high current linear constant current IC launched by Qinglan Semiconductor, specially designed for 12V LED beads. It integrates 120°C over-temperature protection, 0.57V low dropout voltage, 100V/25A power MOSFET and high voltage current foldback protection. Product Description
LAN1166ED is an automotive dedicated linear constant current IC featuring low dropout voltage and high current output for 12V LED beads. Only two external resistors are required to build a complete constant current drive circuit, featuring simple peripheral design, low cost and easy mass production.
Built-in 120°C over-temperature protection circuit ensures stable operation under high voltage and high differential pressure conditions. It keeps the temperature of LED beads below 130°C under various heat dissipation environments, perfectly adapting to harsh high-temperature working conditions of automotive systems.
Integrated 25A/100V power MOSFET supports maximum continuous output current up to 4A. Adopting low dropout drive circuit, the dropout voltage is only 0.57V at 4A output, which generates less heat and achieves higher efficiency, making it suitable for 12V high-power automotive lights.
Equipped with built-in high voltage protection circuit. The IC will automatically reduce output current when input voltage reaches 15V to prevent damage caused by high voltage surge and improve adaptability to fluctuating automotive power supply.

Applications

Application Notes
● Constant Current Setting: Output current Io = 0.3V ÷ Rcs. Rcs = 75mΩ for 4A output.
● High Voltage Protection: Ground the SEL pin. The IC will reduce output current automatically when input voltage ≥ 15V for chip protection.
● Heat Dissipation: Use 2W thermal conductive copper substrate for high-power operation, keep the exposed thermal pad closely attached to heat dissipation layer.
● Reverse Polarity Protection: Connect a 1K resistor in series at VIN terminal to prevent chip damage from reverse power connection.
