LAN1058 Product Overview
LAN1058A is an automotive dedicated medium voltage linear constant current IC designed for 9~10V LED strings. Complete constant current circuit only requires two external resistors, minimizing BOM cost and simplifying mass production.
Equipped with built-in 135°C OTP protection circuit. The IC automatically reduces output under high differential voltage to stabilize power and restrict LED temperature below 130°C, suitable for high-temperature & fan-less automotive lamp applications.
Integrated 200V rated internal power MOSFET, maximum rated output current 1.65A; typical dropout voltage less than 1.5A at full load for low heat generation and high efficiency, compatible with 12V passenger car & 24V commercial truck LED lamps.
Built-in 15V input overvoltage foldback protection. Output current drops automatically when Vin exceeds 15V to safeguard IC and LEDs from surge damage; ESOP high thermal dissipation package adapts to harsh automotive operating conditions.

Important Notes
① Constant current formula: Io=0.3V÷Rcs; For 1.65A output, Rcs≈0.182Ω per calculation.
② Recommended 2W thermal copper MCPCB for application; Isolate IC area thermally and separate LED thermal layout. Non-isolated PCB must adopt ≥2W thermal conductivity copper substrate.
③ Pin6 floating=135°C OTP, pin6 grounded=120°C(reserved); Pin8 grounded enables 15V input foldback overvoltage protection.
④ High power 12V headlight prefer LAN1058A; 24V truck lamp refer to LAN1058A Rev1.1 specification.
⑤ Anti-reverse protection: Series A7 or Schottky diode at VIN terminal to avoid reverse polarity burnout.
⑥ PCB layout: ESOP exposed thermal pad fully attached to Al/Cu substrate; widen all high-current tracks of S, DR & VIN pins.
LAN1058A FAQ
- A: LAN1058A withstands 200V, max 1.65A@13.5V→9V, dropout<1.5V, supports 27V to24V truck lighting at 1.2A; LAN1053 only 100V rating, max 1.2A & lower dropout. Choose LAN1058A for 1.65A high power or 24V system; LAN1053A for 12V only & ≤1.2A design.
- A: Io = 0.3V/Rcs. For 1.65A, Rcs≈0.182Ω. Max rated 1.65A @13.5V/9V LED, 1.2A maximum under 24V input application.
- A: Current version pin6 is NC, fixed OTP at135°C (120°C option reserved for next revision). Select LAN1168ED if NTC external temperature control is required, which can restrict LED below130°C under default setting.
- A: Connect SEL(pin8) to SGND, OVP folds down current automatically once Vin>15V to protect LED & IC from vehicle voltage surge, highly recommended for all 12V automotive design.
- A: 200V high surge resistance, add A7/SS34 Schottky at VIN to prevent reverse connection. Add SMBJ36A/SMBJ70A TVS only for strict ISO7637 test requirement; standard automotive lamp works fine without TVS.
- A: Exposed pad tightly glued on Al/Cu substrate with thermal grease; expand copper trace around IC on PCB. For fan-free lamp, limit actual power Pd=(Vin-Vf)*Iout ≤2W; 1.65A high load suggest derate current below1.2A to reduce heating.
